Too many projects, too many ideas, too few hours — one learning a day anyway

Dev diary — 2026-09-30

The real story today was A Wine App, and it started with an ugly measurement: one phone had minted eleven separate accounts since April, and synced rating dates were coming back 31 years old. Both got fixed at the root. A lost session no longer creates a new person, and the date decoder now reads the clock the date was written on. Then I cleaned up the duplicates, keeping only the account with my 24 bottles.

The catalogue had a quieter version of the same problem: 303 wines listed twice under two spellings of their own house. I read 287 merge winners in the morning with nothing applied, and by evening they were in. Scanning also changed direction, with two older candidate-lookup paths deleted in favour of one. It came to 77 commits and roughly 20k lines added.

Foreman had a big build day too. It gained a third agent lane and a live status view, and the hand-written queue of things needing me was retired in favour of items on its panel, which now keeps curated captures curated. The ideas repo churned through 309 mostly automated ledger commits as a result. There were also small passes on the wine app’s ecosystem map (a documented screenshot command was reaching the wrong site), The Cloudy Brain, Sodalis, cityheatmap, Hermes setup, an internal AI proxy and a self-hosted database setup.

Tonight: build 195 is on TestFlight, and one phone is one person again.
